Did you hear that? It’s the Advent starting gun fired this morning. One month until Christmas! And, oh my, we all have such long lists of shopping and baking and elfing.
The next month will be exciting and overwhelming. And, yet, we know the truth about what’s really important during this season. We now our most important task is to show the world who needs to know how much God loves each and every one of them.
Six billion people need to hear this message. And we have just as many chances to show God’s love in just as many ways!
Here are some of the ways I hope to reflect God’s love to the world: help my kids create homeless bags for our car, call a friend and try to patch up an ugly misunderstanding, pray with my dear uncle who is battling cancer, zoom in with my kids and really listen to them, forgive my husband immediately when we squabble (instead of nursing my pride), worry less about doing the exact right thing and instead just show up, be a more patient driver, and tell my people how crazy grateful I am they are in my life.
